Level Platforms Releases Next Generation MSP Platform

Managed Workplace 2009 establishes the foundation for the future of managed services – MSP 2.0

January 5, 2009

Ottawa, ON, Canada – January 5, 2009 – LPI Level Platforms Inc, the global leader in remote monitoring and management software for solution providers that offer managed services to their end customers, today announced the immediate availability of Managed Workplace 2009 R1, the first in a wave of new product releases based on the all-new Managed Workplace 2009 platform.

Managed Services Providers who implement the new version will benefit from the many new features designed for high performance, flexibility, ease of use and efficiency. The list of new features includes:

  • Extended branding and formatting options for the UI and Reports, enabling solution providers additional flexibility in preparing customized materials for end customers
  • Additional customization and multiple user views of the Service Center central dashboard for internal efficiencies in service delivery
  • New Asset Tagging with automated serial number collection including Virtual Machine IDs from VMWare and HyperVisor, as well as Software Asset Change alerting and reporting allowing for improved asset management, warranty entitlement tracking and software license management
  • Banner advertising (Hosted Edition only) enabling alternate revenue streams or enhanced marketing capabilities for hosting service providers of Managed Workplace 2009
  • Policy Module management toolkit to streamline the administration of Policy Modules including bulk imports, global changes, and tools to track and manage the deployment of Policy Modules across devices, groups and sites.
  • More than 30 new bundled Policy Modules offering best practices management for products from Adtran, Cisco, Citrix, Dell, Foundry Networks, Gateway, HP ProCurve, LogMeIn, Microsoft, Oracle, Shavlik, Symantec and Zenith BDR, adding to the current list of over 300 out-of-the-box best practices Policy Modules from more than 85 leading vendors.

Level Platforms also announced the availability of the new completely redesigned 2009 Partner Portal.   Based on input from thousands of solution provider Partners, Level Platforms has streamlined the new portal for ease of use for everyone from beginners to power users with hundreds of end customers under management.  Extensive new content includes new white papers, case studies, training materials, a comprehensive Managed Workplace Knowledge Base, search and management tools for rapidly growing libraries of Policy Modules, scripts and reports, and much more, all designed to simplify and streamline the profitable adoption of managed services.

“The usability improvements in Managed Workplace 2009 are huge. Because we’re continually expanding our services, we’re particularly pleased with how much faster and easier it is to import Policy Modules and configure global settings for alerts,” said Mike Kelleher, Director of Managed Services with Integrated IT Solutions.

“The automated gathering of asset tags is a godsend—we’re going into budget review with our clients now, and being able to clearly identify devices by their serial numbers has made the whole process much more efficient,” said Andrew Harper, CIO Gaeltek.  “The speed of the central dashboard is phenomenal. In fact, everything is fast now, and with the new ability to customize visible content, we can really focus on what we want.”

“Managed Workplace 2009 represents an entire new class of remote monitoring and management functionality designed to help managed services providers deal with the challenges and opportunities of MSP 2.0,” said Peter Sandiford CEO Level Platforms.  “With virtualization, cloud computing, SaaS, mobility, extensive collaboration including Master MSPs and offshore NOCs, and a growing number of technology vendor initiatives, the old proprietary agent model designed for the era of client-server computing is now clearly end-of-life.  As IT shifts to a network-centric model, remote monitoring and management platforms must be equipped to manage this new more complex paradigm.  The wave of announcements and product releases based on the Managed Workplace 2009 platform will position solution providers and MSPs to prosper in the new world of MSP 2.0.”

Using Managed Workplace 2009 R1, solution providers can already deliver managed services support for all key virtualization products including Microsoft HyperV and Virtual Server, VMware, Citrix XenApp, MetaFrame and Presentation Server, Windows Terminal Server and the more recent Remote Desktop Services, allowing them to provide full managed services support for virtual environments, including servers and desktops, operating systems and applications.

Level Platforms also announced plans to deliver Managed Workplace 2009 R2 in Q1 and confirmed that R2 was now code complete with partner alpha testing of key features now in progress.
