DS3 DataVaulting is an off-site, on line, real-time network backup & restore service. We protect a company’s entire enterprise including workstations, file servers, databases, and email systems. Our service eliminates the need for manual tape backups. Secure remote backups and restores are performed by DS3 using the Internet or through dedicated communication. Our customer's data is vaulted in at&t's secure, fault-tolerant data centers. DS3's strategic relationship with at&t gives us the opportunity to choose from their vast menu of services as we design custom solutions for our customers. Our strict data management practices, coupled with our automatic (i.e. no human intervention) off-site storage, positively impacts our customers’ disaster recovery/business continuity strategy.

DS3 DataVaulting uses state of the art software to schedule and perform backups.  DS3’s software detects and records only block level changes, thereby reducing the amount of data which is required to be transmitted daily for backup.  The data is compressed and encrypted onsite and transmitted via the Internet to the DS3 data vault where it is stored.  Data files are available 24 hours a day in the event restoration is needed.  Large data restores to support disaster recovery are managed by strict service level agreements with the customers.

DS3 DataVaulting also helps clients manage their data with version control and tools that analyze file utilization patterns to identify duplicate files or files which may be candidates for long- term storage options.

Technical Specifications

Back Up:

  • Gateway backs up any computer it can access - no agents involved.
  • All data is encrypted (up to AES256)
  • Multiple compression algorithms
  • Delta-blocking reduces data amounts

Restore:

  • Latest version of all files, databases and mail stores are available locally on the Gateway
  • Previous versions of data are available on the DS3 DataVault
  • To support full DR efforts, DS3 will ship a new Gateway and/or portable DataVault to your site or a DR site
